Mathew Perret will lead a 2-day training course in Rome on"retour" interpretation from Italian into English aimed at interpreters with professional experience working into non-native English or with a high standard of English and intending to add active EN to their combination.
The course will include:
Simultaneous and consecutive interpreting of live and recorded speeches with native-speaker feedback.
Retour skills enhancement work (reformulation, deduction and anticipation).
English enhancement exercises.
A session on issues specific to the IT-EN combination.
Participants will receive a short questionnaire to enable the trainer to fine-tune the course on the basis of their expectations and needs.
Matthew Perret is a freelance interpreter based in Berlin (EN A, ES B, IT FR PT C) with 20 years experience working for the European Commission and Parliament as well as with the G20, UK government, and IMF/World Bank group. He is also one of Europe's best known trainers, teaching on the Leeds University interpreting course and regularly involved in training staff at the European Parliament. Matthew is also involved in a number of online training initiatives such as ORCIT and Lourdes de Rioja's A Word in Your Ear.
