English Legal System”, seminar by David Hutchins

This course is of general relevance to all translators and interpreters. Court interpreters need a good basic knowledge of the court structure, how the system works, and who are the main players. Any translator of commercial contracts is also likely to have some contact with the terminology and legal concepts relating to litigation and the basic court references. ….do you, for example, know the difference between a magistrate and a judge, a court and a tribunal, a hearing and a trial, or a judgment and an order? The course will also include examination of some statements of case (pleadings) in a patent action.

DISCOUNTS: discounts of €25 per course are available for former Lexacom participants, for members of some associations (currently APT in Portugal, ADÜ-Nord in Germany, Cetiecap and Expertij in France, AIIC in Italy, and NRPSI) and for block bookings (two or more places on any course or

courses booked in one transaction for one or more participants). Max. discount for two places is €150 (37.5%), representing a course fee of €250.
