This AIIC seminar will give you an insight into the worldwide market in Remote Simultaneous Interpreting (RSI), focusing on the technical features of the platform solutions available at present. Those features will be explained from both the interpreter’s and the provider’s perspectives, taking into consideration the applicable requirements in ISO standards for simultaneous interpreting. You will obtain first-hand information on the options open to the different stakeholders, and their respective responsibilities, including issues relating to liability; the aim is to give you a solid foundation on which to negotiate RSI assignments yourself. A guided brainstorming session on ethical issues connected to remote interpreting and on AIIC’s Position Paper on Distance Interpreting will conclude the seminar.
