Join Michelle Hof in Bangkok for two back-to-back intensive workshops for professional conference interpreters. Take your retour interpreting and consecutive note-taking skills to the next level with these two half-day practical training sessions.

09:00 – 12:00

WORKSHOP 1 – RETOUR INTERPRETING INTO ENGLISH In this workshop, you will review the techniques used by non-native English speakers to produce clear, easily comprehensible interpretations into English. You will learn about the criteria generally applied to assess the quality of retour interpreting and discover which have the greatest effect on the listener. Guided by a native English interpreting trainer, you will explore your own strengths and weaknesses when interpreting into English and find out where to focus your efforts to improve your work.

 14:00 – 17:00

WORKSHOP 2 – CONSECUTIVE NOTE-TAKING REFRESHER In this session, we will review the components of consecutive notes, using targeted exercises to consider how each component can help make our notes more effective. We will also look at the different facets of the consecutive interpreting process, addressing issues related to analysis, memory and other key skills. By the end of the workshop, you will have a clearer idea of your own strengths and weaknesses when interpreting in consecutive mode and know how to make your note-taking work best for you.
